Frederick Rotgers is an Adjunct Associate Professor of psychology with expertise in addictions and substance use disorders. He earned a PsyD from the Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology where he served on the faculty for more than 10 years as a member of the Rutgers Center of Alcohol Studies. He subsequently taught at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was a tenured Associate Professor. He has published numerous books on the assessment and treatment of persons with substance use disorder, was Co-Editor in Chief of the journal Addiction Research and Theory, and has mentored more than a dozen doctoral dissertations.. Early in his career he worked in corrections and was the first psychologist to be hired full time by the New Jersey State Parole Board. He has consulted for the Correctional Service of Canada, the State of Maine, Volunteers of America Delaware Valley and Connections in Delaware. His self-help book (with Marc Kern and Rudy Hoeltzel) "Responsible Drinking" received the Self Help Seal of Merit from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. He is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology and Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He maintains a full time private practice in New Jersey.
