Bio

Dr. Wei is Associate Professor in the Department of Security, Fire, and Emergency Management and received his Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science with a concentration in Emergency Management from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Wei has conducted a number of multidisciplinary research projects on hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, tornadoes, water contamination, and pandemic influenza that were supported by the NSF, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), US Army Corps of Engineers, Texas A&M University, and City University of New York. Regarding the scholarship, Dr. Wei has published 10 scientific articles in top peer-reviewed journals (i.e., International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction; International Journal of Mass Emergencies and Disasters; Journal of Risk Research; Journal of Transportation Security; Natural Hazards; and Natural Hazards Review), 2 encyclopedia entries in Encyclopedia of Security and Emergency Management, and 1 paper in a professional magazine of Security Management. These contributions to the social science and practice of emergency management have been widely recognized.
