Katie Kikendall is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Sociology Department with teaching and service in Sociology and International/Criminology where she has been teaching since Fall 2018. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in the Criminal Justice department with teaching and service in Fraud Examination, Forensic Accounting and Financial Crime. Through her service, she has participated in the development of the Center for Justice, Law and Ethics at the Franciscan University. Professor Kikendall has affiliations with providing editorial critique for multiple publishers including OpenStax and Sage Publishing in the Sociology and Criminology fields. She focused her graduate studies on Organized Crime and Counter-Terrorism studies, contributing to the research and publication of Organized Crime (Von Lampe, 2015). She was previously invited to serve on the United State's Department of Justice Joint Task Force reviewing the shortcomings of its "War on Drugs" campaign in the Middle East.
In addition to her teaching credentials, she has amassed 12+ years in work force experience falling under the Criminology/Criminal Justice umbrella. She holds specific expertise in Conduct Financial Crimes Compliance (CFCC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT). She brings global banking expertise and federal government work experience to her courses.
Among other awards and honors, she most recently received the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award from John Jay College of Criminal Justice her her development of a "no-additional cost" to student course, designed to be taught asynchrously and make higher education even more accessible to students of diverse backgrounds.
