Professor Raúl Zamudio is an art historian, critic, curator, and educator, and has a B.A. in art history from Brooklyn College and an M. Phil in art history from the C.U.N.Y Graduate School. He also studied at Columbia University, the Institute of Fine Arts/NYU, Univeristé Laval, Vassar College, and was a Helena Rubinstein Fellow in Critical Studies, Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program. He has to date curated/co-curated 155 exhibitions in the Americas, Asia, and Europe including curator, Fish Story, Contempo: 2016 International Contemporary Art Festival, Varna, Bulgaria; curator, Lady with the X-Ray Eyes, Contempo: 2014 International Contemporary Art Festival, Varna, Bulgaria; co-curator, Here Is Where We Jump!, La Bienal 2013, El Museo Del Barrio, New York, NY, USA; co-curator, City Without Walls, 2010 Liverpool Biennial, UK; co-curator, Constellations: 2009 Beijing 798 Biennial, Beijing, China; co-curator, Turn and Widen: 2008 Seoul International Media Art Biennial, Seoul, Korea; artistic director/curator, Garden of Delights: 2008 Yeosu International Contemporary Art Festival, Yeosu, Korea; and co-curator, Poles Apart, Poles Together, 2005 Venice Biennial, Venice, Italy. More than 200 of his texts have been published and many translated into other languages: Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish; and has contributed to 88 art-related books and exhibition catalogs. He was US correspondent for Milan-based Flash Art, contributor to Madrid-based [Art Notes], contributor to London-based Contemporary, and currently Corresponding Editor, Art Nexus, Miami/Bogota. Other periodicals his writing appears in include Art in Culture, Berliner Kunst, Eyeball, Framework: The Finnish Art Review, Journal of the West, La Tempestad, MAG, NY Arts, Public Art, SUBLIME, Tema Celeste, TRANS, and Zingmagazine. Professor Zamudio has lectured, presented papers, delivered talks and participated on panels at universities, museums and galleries around the world including Harvard Divinity School, U.C. Berkeley, Stanford University, University of Southern California, University of Washington, CAM/New York University, Universidad de las Americas, Mexico, Academy of Art, Poland, Royal College of Art, UK, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Cleveland Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Guggenheim Museum, Drawing Center, PS 1 Museum/Clock Tower, National Museum of American History, Mexican Cultural Institute, Americas Society, Seoul Museum of History, Galeria Contempo, Italy, Other Gallery, Shanghai, Yan Yan Club, Beijing, MACO/Mexico, and Espacio Trapezio, Spain. Professor Zamudio has taught consecutively since 1996 at various colleges and universites including College of Staten Island, Kean Univeristy, Montclair State University, Parsons School of Design, The School of Visual Arts, and at John Jay College since 2004.
