Bio

Bob Matthiessen is Adjunct Professor in the Security, Fire and Emergency Management Department at John Jay College. He currently teaches Risk Management, Protection Management and Executive Protection to Undergraduates and Graduate students.  Bob is naive New Yorker and is a former law enforcement supervisor assigned to intelligence and diplomatic security duties. Provided comprehensive security planning and counter terrorism strategies for high threat events and visiting world leaders throughout NYC. Currently directing all global risks, executive protection and intelligence responsibilities for a financial firm with assets in three continents. He is co-author of a published writing on suicide terrorism in 2004, and has written instructional manuals on close-protection and physical security for both the public and private sectors. Bob continues to provide comprehensive instructions that helps guide security leaders and practitioners with comprehensive strategic recommendations that will identify and provide solutions to improve security using a best practices approach.
