Single Stop announces the launch of its services at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the first four-year college to launch a Single Stop site on campus.
Single Stop’s “one-stop shop” model will offer a broad range of social, financial, and legal services to all John Jay students. The Single Stop office, set to open on October 29 in the new John Jay Wellness Center, will connect students and their families to the untapped resources that alleviate financial and personal obstacles that prevent them from graduating.
“Single Stop and John Jay are proud to be at the forefront of ensuring students are provided with the resources they need to finish college and improve their families’ financial future,” said Lynette Cook-Francis, Vice President for Student Affairs at John Jay College.
At over 100 sites across 9 states, Single Stop partners with organizations that serve low-income families to provide wraparound services and ensure that clients have access to all the major anti-poverty resources available. Single Stop services are currently available at all City University of New York community colleges where the program has served 70,982 students and their families, helping to connect them to $169,011,225 dollars in critical services, tax refunds and supportive resources.
Through a unique combination of technology, consulting and institutional training, John Jay’s Single Stop counselors will provide students with information about which federal, state or local benefits they are eligible to receive and will guide students through the process of applying for benefits.
