Our Mission:
Our mission is to support faculty members in fulfilling their roles and obligations; and endeavor to forward the strategic aims of the Provost, College, and University. In collaboration with the Teaching & Learning Center and Faculty Services, we seek to facilitate faculty success in teaching, service, and scholarly achievement in pursuit of their career and professional goals.
The Dean provides strategic leadership, support and advocacy for part- and full-time faculty; oversees faculty personnel processes and maintains our commitment to a diverse faculty; addresses faculty concerns, complaints and grievances; facilitates training, development and support for faculty leadership; and collaborates in efforts to meet the institution’s strategic goals for student, staff and faculty success.

- Support, resources and referrals for your teaching growth and development
- Regular communication about opportunities and responsibilities during the academic year
- Feedback on personnel materials, upon request
- Consultation on issues of concern to individual faculty members
- Advocacy for faculty concerns across administrative and other contexts
- Workshops and faculty conversations on a variety of topics, including aspects of the personnel process
- Opportunities to gather together as a community of scholars and educators
Brief Bio: Dr. Crossman has been at John Jay College for 20 years and is a Professor in the Psychology Department and a faculty member of the Psychology & Law, Criminal Justice, and Developmental Psychology doctoral programs at the Graduate Center. She served for 6 years each as Chair of the Psychology Department and Director of the Psychology and Law doctoral training area. Dr. Crossman’s research interests include the accuracy and credibility of children's memory and testimony and the socialization and development of lying and truth-telling.
